Missed Dose

It is common for people to forget their dosage times and miss doses.

Instead, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the scheduled time. Do not double up or take more than what the doctor has prescribed.

How do I store Lamictal

Lamictal The medicine label contains detailed instructions regarding safe storage of the medication. Most medicines are best stored at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Some medications may require to be refrigerated. Please check the product label.

Keep it away from the reach of children. Ensure that it is not exposed to direct sunlight or moisture.

Ask your pharmacist about safely disposing off medication that is past expiry date.

Using Alcohol

Lamictal is known to cause drowsiness or dizziness. Your vision may be blurred and your judgement affected if you consume alcohol with this medication. So, avoid using alcohol while using Kytril.

These effects may also get aggravated due to hot weather or fever or severe exercise. So, be cautious when you stand up after a long time from a sitting or lying position. If you feel giddy then lie down immediately and seek medical help.

To be avoided

You must avoid using Lamictal if it you are allergic to any ingredient in it or mention to your doctor if you have heart problems, liver problems, kidney problems, allergies (especially drug allergies).

Lamictal

Yes. Although rare, serious (sometimes fatal) skin rashes have occurred while using this medication. These rashes (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome) are more common in children (less than 16 years old) than in adults. Hence Lamictal is only to be used in children who have partial seizures or seizures, associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

If this medication is the cause of the rash, the drug must be stopped. Even after stopping this medication, it is still possible for the rash to cause permanent or life-threatening scarring along with other problems. The possibility of a rash may be increased by using too much of this medication when treatment begins, increasing the dose beyond what your doctor prescribes during treatment, or taking valproic acid with lamictal. Most life-threatening rashes have occurred within 2 to 8 weeks of starting this medication. However, such serious rashes have also occurred after 6 months of use

Possible Drug & Food Interactions

Certain prescription drugs or health supplements or even food items are known to interact with the effects of medications. Each of these drugs may have different interactions and effects that range from an increase in the side effects of these drugs themselves or a reduction in the effect of Lamictal and more.

Additional Information

Lamictal may also increase the sensitivity of your skin to sunlight. This will cause sunburns if you are exposed to the sun for long. So sunlamps and tanning booths must be strictly avoided. You must also avoid venturing out into the sunlight for long without proper clothing or sunscreen protection.
