Drug Uses
Paxil is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).Depression and anxiety disorders are sometimes caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. One of these chemicals is serotonin, it helps send electrical signals from one nerve cell to another. In the process, serotonin is released from one nerve cell and travels to the next, where it is either absorbed or returns back to the original sender cell.
How Taken
Paxil comes as a tablet to take by mouth. The general dosage is one tablet a day. It may be taken with or without a meal. For best effect Paxil should be taken regularly for a couple of weeks. Even you feel better do not stop taking Paxil without your doctor`s approval. If you have been taking Paxil in large doses or for a long time, your doctor will most likely want to gradually lower your dose before you stop taking Paxil. Do not take more or less of this drug, than your doctor has prescribed to you.
Missed Dose
Take the Missed Dose as soon as you remember it. But, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose
Storage
Store this medication at room temperature 20–25°C (68–77°F). Keep away from children and excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom).
More Information
Be careful when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities. Be careful when taking alcohol during your treatment. It may increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking Paxil.

Warnings/Precautions
You may not be able to take Paxil or you may need dosage adjustment or monitoring while you are taking Paxil if you have liver or kidney disease, suffer form seizures, or from mania or have suicidal thoughts. Before taking Paxil tell your doctor if you have any of the above. Consult you doctor if you have any allergies, especially if you have had allergic reaction to Paxil in the past.
This drug is in the FDA pregnancy category C, which means that studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the fetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women, or studies in women and animals are not available. Also it is known that Paxil passes into breast milk. Therefore, do not take Paxil without your doctor`s approval if you are pregnant, likely to become pregnant or breast feeding.
